Janusz Sanguszko's Universal concerning the land rabbi of Krakow

Janusz Sanguszko instructs his steward to bond the debts of the former land rabbi [Dawid Szmelka] from Nowy Wiśnicz and forbids to pay them back under the threat of a fine of 100 red zloties until any claims against him are settled. At the same time he orders to proclaim in the synagogue his approval for the new rabbi, Józef Jona Ickowicz, and commands all the Jews to obey him under the threat of a fine of 200 red zloties.
